Description: The form of this sculpture takes the meandering shape of the Boone River and transforms it into a stylized functional bench made from stainless steel that emits light. Rising out of river there are columns that support precision cut stainless steel screens that reference a canopy of trees. This metal canopy is actually the street grid for Webster City, IA. A solar panel installed nearby offsets the energy used in the production and daily operation of this light sculpture. Dimensions: 14ft L x 7ft W x 9.5ft H Special thanks to: Christian Woodruff – Student Project Assistant Leslie Finer This project received funding and support from: JBP Foundation & EPIC-N City of Webster City Individual donations from Webster City Residents Office of Outreach & Engagement, University of Iowa University of Iowa Arts Share The School of Art & Art History, University of Iowa
